چکیده

neoplastic soft tissue masses. Although it contains a relatively small amount of somatic soft tissue elements, the foot is rich in tendons, fasciae, retinaculae, and synovium (1). In the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology series[LKH1], 8% of benign soft-tissue tumors and 5% of malignant soft-tissue tumors occurred in the foot and ankle, suggesting an unexpectedly high incidence on a tissue volume basis. In general, benign tumors occur at least 10 times more frequently than malignant soft tissue tumors. In one series of soft-tissue tumors of the foot and ankle, 87% of lesions were benign (2). Of all the imaging modalities, MRI demonstrates superior soft tissue characterization and is now considered the gold-standard imaging technique in their investigation. Lately, we have encountered rare benign masses and malignant soft tissue tumors of the foot. The presented cases include benign masses such as granuloma annulare, angiomyoma, neural fibrolipoma, and giant cell tumor of tendon sheath, as well as malignant tumors such as melanoma, synovial sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma and extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma. There are few published English reports addressing the MR appearance of these masses. This pictorial essay shows MR features of uncommon soft tissue tumors of the foot with associated clinicopathologic findings.

From the pseudolipoma to lipoma: staging of the typical radiological appearances. Pictorial essay.

Lipomas are benign mesenchymal tumors, which accounts for 50% of soft tissue tumors. Although the etiopathogenesis has not yet been fully understood, it is known that lipomas developed at a rate of 1% in the related localizations after traumas. Trauma initiates inflammatory reactions in fatty tissue and these can be the trigger mechanism for the development of lipomas. In this pictorial essay ...

Evaluation of Soft Tissue Sarcoma Tumors Electrical Conductivity Anisotropy Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging for Numerical Modeling on Electroporation

Introduction: There is many ways to assessing the electrical conductivity anisotropyof a tumor. Applying the values of tissue electrical conductivity anisotropyis crucial in numerical modeling of the electric and thermal field distribution in electroporationtreatments. This study aims to calculate the tissues electrical conductivityanisotropy in patients with sarcoma tumors using diffusion tens...

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

A pictorial essay on brain perfusion SPECT in various neuro-psychiatric disorders and intoxication: Though practical, it is not very commonly used

Brain single-photon emission computerized tomography (SPECT), in particular, with perfusion agents or with neuroreceptor imaging radiopharmaceuticals, is rapidly becoming a clinical tool in many neurologic and psychiatric conditions. This imaging modality has been used for diagnosis, prognosis assessment, evaluation of response to therapy, risk stratification, detection of benign vs. malignant ...

[Giant cell tumors of the tendon sheaths of the hand].

Giant cell tumour of the tendon sheath is a soft tissue mass found occasionally in the hand. Its diagnosis can be readily made preoperatively if the characteristic MRI features are appreciated. This pictorial essay demonstrates and describes the imaging findings correlated with histopathological findings in a group of patients with proven giant cell tumour of the tendon sheath.
